LEGENDS PUT TO REST IN TAMWORTH

Tamworth’s Oxley Lookout is set become the final resting place for country music legend Smokey Dawson and his wife Dot.
Council has approved an application to have their ashes spread at the location, which overlooks the city.
“Tamworth was considered Smoky and Dot’s second home and they wanted them to be placed somewhere that Smoky and Dot loved and so they made a request to have their ashes scattered here at the Tamworth lookout,” Tamworth Regional Council General Manager Paul Bennett said.
A plaque will also be placed at the site to recognise the contribution the pair made to the Australian country music industry.
