ROADWORKS UNDERWAY AT ADAMSTOWN RAILWAY GATES

One of Newcastle’s busiest level crossings is set to undergo a shake-up, with roadworks underway to install traffic lights at the Adamstown gates.
The change aims to reduce wait times and road accidents, but council says congestion issues won’t be a quick fix.
Transport for New South Wales is currently reviewing options for the Lower Hunter Freight Corridor.
If built, most of the freight trains would be removed from inner city lines.

The road should go under the rail! Costly? Yes! Worth it? Has to be!
Put an underpass in, just like they did in East Maitland. Be there they’d do more if Newcastle was a swinging seat.
