A group of people boating on Lake Macquarie was lucky to escape serious injury when their vessel was hit and sunk by another boat.
A runabout that crashed into a vessel that was anchored at the time, returned to pluck several people from the water and return them to shore at Valentine.
Those brought ashore were treated for minor injuries and shock and were reunited with family members.
Police are interviewing the skippers of the craft to establish the cause of the collision.
