After an emotional graduation from the Golburn Police academy on Friday,
The step-daughter of slain constable David Rixon, joined the local police ranks today.
“It hasn’t really sunk in yet I think that it will all start to become real on Wednesday when I start my first day out on the truck in Gunnedah,” Jemma Galea said.
Jemma is one of four new recruits for the Oxley Local area command.
Commander Clint Pheeney says he saw all the recruits graduate and believes the local area got the pick of the bunch.
“They were all very enthusiastic then as they are today so yeah I think we’re fortunate. I think we’ve got some good ones,” he said.
