GOONELLABAH HORNETS TAKE ON LISMORE WORKERS

To Far North Coast Football, and a blow for Lismore Workers ahead of their preliminary major semi-final tomorrow against Goonellebah.

They’ve lost two midfielders to injury, while the Hornets are determined to get to the grand final and defend their title.

It’s a big blow for Lismore ahead of a crucial point in the season.

The Workers are missing two of their leading midfielders – and will have a lot of work to do, to beat the defending premiers, Goonellabah.

“We do have two of our starting mid fielders who are unavailable for the game Clint Willoughby and Billy Latimer and that’s a big loss but we’re fortunate that we have a strong squad.”

In contrast the Goonellabah Hornets will be going into the match with a full-strength outfit.

But history is against the side – which hasn’t beaten Lismore in all four clashes this year.

But the Hornets’ coach says he’s seen real progress from his men, and they’ve been building for the finals.

“Quietly confident of a good performance looking at out year so far we’ve really built half the team and after last friday’s performance against Alstonville I think we’re in a good position to go forward.”

The game kicks off tomorrow at 3pm at Richards Oval.

The winner will play Rovers next week in the Grand Final qualifier, while the loser goes into a sudden death semi against Byron Bay.
