Construction work on the $50-million Nambucca Valley dam is set to begin this month.
The 5,000 megalitre off-river-storage project will be built on the outskirts of Bowraville.
The valley’s water currently comes from borefields at Bowraville, but in dry times there have been restrictions on water use.
The new dam will cover approximately 75 hectares of land, and will take18 months to complete.
