It’s time to delve into the vault for another lookback at fifty years of NBN television.
And long before the Wiggles, High Five, and even before pre schools were popular, NBN’s Romper Room was becoming a big part of small children’s lives.
Many of those littlies who appeared on the show are now parents and grand parents.
So a warning, that this story is likely to stir up a flood of childhood memories.

I was on romper room,i still remember it well..Miss kim was amazing!! Unfortunately my mum lost the tape she recorded the show on i would have loved to have shown my kids.

I was on Romper Room back in 1987,but my dad accidently taped over it ,it would be really good if i could see it again, is there anyway you could help me get a copy of it.
We were joking about our son’s episode being shown and shock it was his that was shown. December 1990 he was on, the one in the bright yellow shirt and jeans, he drank his drink before the other kids and was looking at them as they drank their juice. I would love him to be that little again. He is now 26

I had a video when I was a child, probably in the late 1990s. It had the songs from Romper Room and Big Dog was in it. I remember a song about a rosella called Rosie. The children also played with bouncy balls and rode around on the horse sticks. If anyone can help me find this particular one, maybe it was an episode, that would be a huge help.
I was wondering if any one would be able to help me find a romper room tape of my daughter Belinda who was on the show in about october 1984 .She has a pink dress with frills on ,red sandles knee high socks .Dark blond hair ,with half up and down.When she was riding the horse around she just happened to poke her tounge out at the camera .She also said she had been on holidays with grandma .Hope you can help .
I was 15 when I started as a trainee cameraman at NBN in 1969 and everything was black and white. The first show I did camera on was of course “Romper Room”. I knew I’d made the big time then. Miss Anne was the host and it was a fun time for all. We camera guys thought up the names for Miss Anne to recite as she looked through the magic mirror at all her “friends at home”. We’d come up with abstract stuff like “Ignatius, Xavier, Bartholomhew, Siobhan, Vladimir, Quentin, Penelope, Julius, Magdalena etc etc.
Funny thing is, these days, half those weird names are commonplace.
Footnote; We on the studio floor crew watched the first moon landing (1969) in the upstairs directors control room above Studio A. With all the banks of TV monitors on the walls it felt surreal, even a bit like being at N.A.S.A. Mission Control
