A 26-year-old Taree man has been refused bail in Forster Local Court today, charged over the armed robbery of the Chatham Newsagency last Saturday morning.
Police allege three men, wielding a baseball bat and metal pole, entered the Crescent Avenue store just before six and violently attacked the business owner.
He suffered a head injury and required surgery.
The trio escaped with cash and cigarettes in a stolen car.
The man is due to reappear in Taree court via video link this Tuesday.
