I can’t believe I was silly enough to vote for these people.
They are making the Labor Party look like saints.
Where are we getting these old fogie, backward thinking, out of touch politcians?
Australia is supposed to be a well off country and we seem to be scratching the dirt to fund the most important social leveller and that is education and the arts which enrich our lives and transcend us from mere survival . Actions of those in power reinforce my opinion that Australia is going through Puberty Blues.
The Newcastle Art School is an amazing institution. Let’s all show our support now and rally behind them. Let’s hope that Barry O’Farrell and the N.S.W. State Govn. see the errors of their way, before all this comes to fruition. Not likely!
Having studied and completed my advanced diploma at Newcastle Art School and find this disgusting!
I am now studying Diagnostic Radiography and believe many of the skills I gained have helped me and will continue to benefit me throughout the remainder of my course. There are many areas which I find relatable especially when coming to the production and image quality of x-ray.
I think you will also find that this is the case with other careers as well such as arcitecture, construction etc. Whilst studying art I was taught how to spot weld, how to use a bandsaw, drill, oxyweld and plasma cut, build websites and edit images etc. You get more out of this course than learning how to make things look pretty, you learn to look at the world in a different way.
This is what happens when educational institutions are conducted as businesses rather than real places of learning. And its because the bean counters are narrow minded materialistic grunts that they they are cutting art, the humanities and music in Tafes and unis right across the country. Never mind that the arts make for a healthier, richer society.
