A man is dead and a woman is in hospital following a police car chase in the NSW Hunter sparked by a domestic dispute.
The man, 29, died when his car hit a tree after he’d knocked over a woman standing in the driveway of a home in Blackalls Park,near Lake Macquarie on Thursday night.
The 32-year-old woman was taken to hospital with injuries which are described as non- life threatening. The man is believed to be the ex-partner of the injured woman, police said.
The crash happened as officers chased the man’s Ford Falcon after he’d failed to comply with a police request to stop.
They had been called to the property in Railway Parade at about 10pm following reports of a domestic dispute.
Police could not confirm media reports that the incident took place at the couple’s home.
A crime scene was established and is currently being examined by forensic specialists.
