A man suffered burns to 60 per cent of his body in a fire in Newcastle this morning.
The blaze broke out in a public housing unit at Mayfield West at around eight o’clock.
Paramedics treated the 33-year-old for burns and smoke inhalation, before taking him to hospital in a serious condition.
A bar heater is believed to have sparked the fire.
