NEW ACQUISITION FOR DORRIGO RAIL MUSEUM

It might not yet be open to the public but that hasn’t stopped members of Dorrigo’s Rail Museum from collecting more trains.
Its latest acquisition is a giant rail mounted crane which weighs in at 200 tonnes.

This collection reflects the foresight of its prime mover, Casey Jones. His primary aim has always been to save priceless heritage from the cutter’s torch and he has been preeminently successful at doing so. There are a lot of detractors around who write rubbish and infest puerile sites on the Net – they should be ignored and some sort of recognition arranged for Keith Jones in next years honours list for his courage and endurance in the face of what might seem to him snide, sniggering, supercilious, infantile, puerile and obnoxious putrefaction.
I don’t know why still allow this group acquire more stuff when what they have is rotting away with little or no maintenance at Dorrigo. For nearly 40 years, this group has successfully run the line they are a “museum not open to the public” when in effect all they are is a non-incorporated hobby group with tax-exemption status and controlled by one man.
The Bellingen Shire Council should slap a 5 tonne limit on roads approaching the Dorrigo train “museum” site, to stop anymore junk from being taken up there.
