Lake Macquarie City Council, picked up the Council of the Year award at the Local Government Conference.
The AR Bluett Memorial Award, recognises, the lake’s improvement in environmental and tourism projects.
Also in the spotlight, Kurri Kurri was named Community of the Year in the Towns with Heart Regional Achievement awards.
Kurri’s mural project is the largest on mainland Australia and the annual Nostalgia Festival brings in millions of dollars to the community.
