PACIFIC HIGHWAY FUNDING FARCE
A commitment announced yesterday by the New South Wales Government Treasurer, Mike Baird, to match federal government funding for the Pacific Highway upgrade has been canned by the Premier.
Just hours after Mike Baird announced proceeds from the lease of Port Botany would be used to match federal government funding he was over-ruled by Barry O’Farrell.
The Premier said the state government will only fund 20 per cent of the upgrade costs.
The decision means the 2016 completion date is unlikely to be achieved.
