A plan outlining strategies to manage coastal hazards at Lake Cathie will be up for public exhibition in the new year.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has adopted the view that a revetment wall and beach nourishment projects are the best ways to prevent further coastal erosion and protect homes on Illaroo Road.
The wall has a $3 million price tag, while it’s estimated nourishment projects will cost $100,000 annually to maintain.
In addition, coastal engineering firm, Haskoning Australia, has been commissioned to carry out a review of coastal recession forecasts.
