HIGGINBOTTOM HOLDS HIS NERVE TO WIN NZ OPEN

Hunter golfer Jake Higginbottom has produced a remarkable final round 67, to claim the New Zealand Open.
The 19 year old becomes the first amateur in more than 50 years to win the event.
Starting the day two shots back, the Aussie consistently held his nerve.
After dropping a shot on 16, Higginbottom produced this on 17.
His birdie ensured he only need par on the last, as Jake claimed the amateur and open trophies.
His amateur status means the teenager can’t claim any prize money.
