Drivers in Newcastle had a reprieve from parking fees today when the city’s parking meter network malfunctioned.
A glitch with a central server system meant the meters displayed the wrong time and date.
Parking patrol officers continued to monitor two-hour limits.
And free weekend parking starts this Saturday from 12 noon. That means free unrestricted parking from 12 noon Saturday and all day Sunday, except for some areas on the foreshore.
