QUENTIN BRYCE PRESENTS SQUADRON NEW HONOURS

There was a special celebration in Williamtown today, with the Governor General in town to mark the re-consecration of the Number Two Squadron’s standard.

The standard, a ceremonial flag is the most prized possession of any military unit, and today Quentin Bryce presented the squadron with a series of new honours.

“The addition of three new battle honours to your squadron, standard honours of Malaya, Thai and the Malaysia confrontation.” said Quentin Bryce.

“It only comes out for special occasions such as today so the banner may only see the light of day every two years.” Wing Commander Paul Carpenter, Commanding Officer of Number 2 Squadron.

The squadron has also been recognised by the Queen for outstanding operations, making it the most highly decorated squadron in the Australian Airforce.
