A man will face Newcastle Local Court today on a string of charges relating to the alleged online grooming of young girls.
Police allege the 22 year-old man contacted several girls through a social networking site and text messages.
It is also alleged he demanded and threatened the girls to send naked photos to him, and attempted to groom them for sexual intercourse.
On Sunday police arrested the 22-year-old man charged over two alleged sexual assaults.
On these charges he was refused bail in Newcastle Local Court, and will reappear on the 23 January.
His house was also searched with officers locating mobile phones, computers and storage devices.
Police allege they found pornographic material of some of the victims on the devices and laid additional charges.
He’s facing Newcastle Local Court today for using a carriage service to groom a girl under 16, using a carriage service for child pornography and using a carriage to menace, harass or offend.
