World number two Sally Fitzgibbons has declared she’ll return to Newcastle next month, to defend her Women’s Classic title at Surfest.
In 2012, Fitzgibbons’ win in Newcastle provided a massive boost of confidence that also set her up for victory at Bells Beach.
The 22-year-old has been runner-up on the world tour for the past three years.
Mark Occilupo has already confirmed he’ll compete in the men’s event at Surfest, with organisers expected to announce more high profile competitors by the end of the week.
