The Tamworth Country Music Festival has been crowned Australia’s ‘Best Major Festival or Event’.
The city was awarded the prestigious honour for its 40th festival in 2012.
It beat out Canberra’s Floriade and Hamilton Island’s Race Week for the title, at the Australian Tourism Awards ceremony in Hobart last night.
It’s been a successful few months for festival organisers, with the event also taking out the state title in November.
