Reigning World Champion Stephanie Gilmore is out of the women’s event at Surfest after coming fourth in her heat this morning.
Gilmore struggled with wave selection in the heat which was won by Reunion Island surfer Cannelle Boulard.
Local girl Phillipa Anderson is also out of the event after coming last in her heat. She also struggled in the small, inconsistent conditions.
Gerroa’s Sally Fitzgibbons is looking good as she heads into the round of 12.
NBN’s man on the beach, reporter Paddy Kilmurray says the surf is slowly picking up.
