Newcastle police are urging late night traders to be vigilant and ensure they have adequate security, following a spate of armed robberies.
There have been five hold-ups in the past 10 days – four of which involved a firearm.
“It is of great concern when people use weapons in armed robberies. It’s something we take very seriously and we throw a lot of resources at investigating these matters and leave no stone unturned to find the perpetrators,” said Inspector Shane Buggy.
