WEATHER UPDATE: WETTEST SUMMER IN YEARS

Coffs Harbour and Mt Seaview both receiving their wettest summer in more than half a century.

Mt Seaview gained 1797mm which is almost three times the summer average and the wettest on record. Forster had its wettest summer in 42 years.

Other notable summer totals were along the Central Coast with Gosford and Newcastle both notching up their wettest summer in five years with almost double the average summer total.
Autumn will also begin under wet skies.

A significant, slow moving rain band is going to make it’s way across the region from tonight tracking to the NE with the potential to produce heavy falls, so localised flash flooding will be possible, especially for the NW plains and Greater Hunter.

Isolated thunderstorms will also form. A southerly will ensue being stronger for the Hunter and MNC.

The first weekend of March is set to be a a wet one especially for the coast with gusty SE winds spreading north to SE QLD.
