YOUNG BOY HIT BY CAR IN COOLONGOLOOK

A 13-year-old boy from the Blue Mountains, has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital after he was struck by a car in Coolongolook, south of Taree this morning.

Police believe the boy was crossing the road at Wooton Way just after 8am, when he was hit by a Mazda Sedan, being driven by a 56-year-old man.

“Police interviewed the driver at the scene, alcohol has been ruled out and not a factor, but it’s early stages of the investigation,” said Inspector Neil Stephens from Manning-Great Lakes Police.

The boy remains in a stable condition, with multiple injuries including a head injury.
