TAREE DECLARED NATURAL DISASTER ZONE

Flood victims in the Greater Taree Council area may be eligible for funding assistance, with the area declared a Natural Disaster Zone.
It comes after the weekend’s deluge, which saw more than 300-millimetres of rain fall across the Manning.
The river peaked yesterday morning, reaching 10-metres at Wingham and 3.36-metres at Taree.
With no major rainfall recorded in the past 24-hours, floodwaters are now beginning to recede, with the river dropping below minor levels at Taree.
Several roads and bridges remain closed including the Bight Bridge at Wingham.
