Port Stephens councillors last night voted to dismiss the Raymond Terrace Australia Day Committee.
Councillors also voted against a proposed dog boarding kennel at Butterwick.
Mayor Bruce Mackenzie, who was the only councillor to vote in favour of the development, says the decision was swayed by an outpouring of community anger.
