WEATHER UPDATE: RELIEF FOR THE GOLD COAST

The unrelenting showers that have plagued the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers for more than a week will finally dry up.

The first significant front of the year is making its way across the Bight, this is forcing drier hotter air into the south east making for a record breaking run of consecutive days above 30 in Melbourne. That air from central Australia will then get pushed across the region clearing the cloud and shower activity along the coast.

The first front will be deflected away to the south but it will pave the way for a second to push north over the weekend delivering a gusty southerly change by Sunday.

Cyclone Sandra is now ready to move further south crossing over into the Tasman. She should leave the coast alone but a large swell will cause increased coastal erosion while making for dangerous conditions on our beaches and out to sea in the coming days.
