CANNABIS ERADICATION PROGRAM A SUCCESS

$25-million worth of cannabis has been destroyed by police during a statewide eradication program, with the New England Local Area Command alone seizing plants worth almost $7-million.
Police have carried out raids across the region, including Glen Innes and Tenterfield.
Last month Armidale police destroyed more than 300 plants found in Carrai National Park.
The haul had an estimated street value of more than $600,000.
Police say the program’s been responsible for keeping nearly a quarter of a billion dollars worth of cannabis off the state’s streets since it began in the mid-80s.
