The University of New England has released a statement in support of its Chief Operating Officer, David Cushway,amid reported allegations of inappropriate dealings with former MP, Richard Torbay.
Vice-Chancellor Jim Barber says Mr Cushway was appointed to his position following a national search by an external recruitment agency, and that Mr Torbay played no part in the process.
Mr Barber also says Mr Cushway has assured him that he has not been involved in any illegal or corrupt behaviour.
