A 90 year old retired Coolangatta businessman now has a local park named after him, in honour of his years of volunteering.
John Orbansen, has been an active member of the Coolangatta community since the 1920s, helping disadvantaged children and feeding the homeless from his cafe.
“If I can help somebody all the better and I try do that, thank you very much”
“It’s a small park but he’s a great individual and its not reflected the size of the park what a great individual he is.”
Mr Orbansen also has an Order of Australia Medal for his community work.
