There’s still talk about raising residential rates in all Clarence Valley towns except Grafton in the coming council budget.
A growing number of councillors believe rates in communities like Yamba and Maclean should be raised to match those paid in Grafton, as part of a rates restructure.
Several councillors have come out in favour of the idea but want the higher rate phased in over four years as the least painful option.
A council spokesman says there’ll be more discussion before a decision is made.
