COUNCIL VOTES AGAINST SUBMITTING INTERIM HERITAGE ORDER FOR OLD HOSPITAL

Murrurundi’s century old Wilson Memorial Hospital is still set to be demolished this month.

The Upper Hunter council voted against an order, which could have seen the building heritage listed in last night’s extraordinary meeting.

The 18th century building was designed by the architect for Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building, George McCrae.

The Department of Health Infrastructure says the building must go to accomodate for the new hospital.
