The electronic media has been barred from recording a public meeting in the town of Gloucester.
AGL’s Group General Manager Mike Moraza has accepted an invitation from the Barrington-Stroud Preservation Alliance to speak at the public meeting on Thursday night, on one condition, that there be no live recording once the meeting is called to order.
“BGSPA welcomes Mr Moraza’s acceptance of its invitation. This is an important opportunity for Mr Moraza to learn at first hand of the concerns of residents and landholders who will be impacted by the project and to respond to their questions.”
The BGSPA says it disagrees with the media gag, but believes it’s an important opportunity to put forward the concerns of Gloucester’s residents and landholders, who’ll be impacted by AGL’s plans to mine CSG.
“Understandably and predictably, AGL’s veto of recording has generated considerable community outrage. There is a widespread view that AGL is not willing to be open and honest. BGSPA is concerned that this issue has the potential to turn what would otherwise have been a calm and orderly meeting into an angry and demonstrative one.” said a BGSPA spokeperson.
The group has asked AGL to reconsider the media gag so as not to distract from the issues the community want to raise.
AGL says the BGSPA and Gloucester Council who will facilitate the meeting agreed to the media gag at preliminary meetings.
“In our experience across all of our operations, the communities’ interests are better served when there are not news cameras in meetings of this nature.” said the AGL spokesperson.
No wonder so many people don’t trust AGL with such a ‘Claytons’ public meeting- ie’ the public meeting you have when you don’t have a meeting made public’
Mr Moraza will try anything to stop AGL’s woes over Gloucester to get into the Sydney media.
This is one of the most disgusting ventures ever undertaken by a company who,in spite of the thousands of documented reports,videos,photos,scientific evidence etc. continues to bribe and corrupt those who have any influence,to steam-roll their way across anywhere they can see a dollar.
Thousand of acres of the USA have already been poisoned and rendered unusable for generations.The human cost is far worse,with hundreds,if not thousand affected by the many toxic chemicals which appear after this industry has started injecting untold amounts of water(much of it potable)mixed with a deadly cocktail, into the earth, never really knowing where it will end up.Flares burn off some of the waste gasses but also pollute the air for unknown miles/kilometres around,from where this poison belches day after day,from once untouched depths.The land also has no chance of escaping untouched, with both the air and water contaminated around it.
America is only one example of the total devastation that CSG mining causes because of ‘blind eye’ policies made by corrupt and unethical people in power.
Do these idiots think that neither themselves or their family / friends will be affected by what their greed is creating.If anyone else was caught releasing these dangerous toxins into water supplies or into the air…surely they would be jailed,or if not,hung.And I think- fair enough.
Thankfully this issue is waking the ‘sleeping elephant’.More and more people see this whole dangerous industry as one step too many .They have had enough of ‘taking another one for the team’ and are prepared to fight to the end.
I don’t think that these criminals really know who they are taking on…POWER TO THE PEOPLE…
