A motel cleaner sparked a bomb scare this morning, when she spotted a suspicious looking cylinder in a room.
Celiac Court in Tweed Heads South was searched by fire-fighters and police, who were relieved to find the object was fairly innocent.
“We found underneath the bed what appeared to be an old roman candle – just a simple fire cracker with a fuse at the end, it was unlit and we took possession of it and rendered it safe.”
They say it was an understandable mistake, and the cleaner was right to raise the alarm.
