The state government will conduct a study to find an alternative route around the Woodsreef asbestos mine.
The study will investigate whether constructing a new route will be feasible, or if a section of Mine Road is closed while rehabilitation works are underway.
The closure of the road is a key recommendation in a state Ombudsman’s report that was completed in 2010.
