ROSE HOWELL CASE DEFERRED TO UNSOLVED HOMICIDE UNIT

A coronial inquest into the disappearance of Bundagen teenager, Rose Howell, has reached a dead end.

The inquest, which visited Bellingen late last year, was sparked when a prisoner from Long Bay Gaol claimed to have been involved in Rose’s abduction.

The 18 year old was last seen on May 11, 2003, walking alone along Perrys Road at Repton, south of Coffs Harbour.

But Deputy State Coroner Paul MacMahon yesterday referred the case to the Unsolved Homicide Unit – saying the prisoner’s admission was likely to have been fabricated.
