A 60-year-old Barnsley man has been charged with supplying and possessing prohibited drugs, following a vehicle search in Merewether last night.
Police patrolling Glebe Road at around 8.20pm observed a parked car with its headlights on and a man suspiciously walking down the street.
The man was stopped and was found to be in possesion of cash he had no explanation for.
Police then stopped and searched a BMW, where they allegedly found several small bags of heroin.
The 60-year-old driver was charged with Supply and Possess Prohibited Drug and will face Newcastle Local Court today.
