Police are searching for a man, who assaulted of an off-duty police officer in Bellingen on Wednesday night.
The 38 year senior constable was crossing the road at Church Street shortly before 11pm, when she was punched on the side of the face.
“She suffered some soft tissue injuries around the left eye, bruising, swelling to the face but fortunately no fractures” said Senior Sergant Peter O’Reilly.
The man they want to talk to is described as being 20 years old and Caucasian, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.
