NEW HYBRID BUSES FOR COFFS HARBOUR SERVICES

A Coffs Harbour company is going green becoming the first in the state to launch two new diesel-electric buses for its fleet.
Local politicians and members of the public were taken on board today so they could experience what the manufacturers call a quieter ride around inner-city streets.
Sawtell Coaches spent $400,000 on each of the two hybrid buses to save money on fuel.
Manager Darrren Williams said,”well we’re hoping they’re going to be cheaper to run in time but they’re a lot more expensive to purchase.”
A spokesman for the bus manufacturer said, “At the moment this bus had been running for approximately a month already and its savings have been up to 25 percent over a conventional diesel bus.”
The buses will be used between Sawtell and Coffs Harbour.
