A shop attendant fought off an armed robber at a Newcastle convenience store last night, threatening the offender with a stanley knife.
A masked man entered the Lucky 7 convenience store on the corner of Bolton and Hunter Streets at around 11pm, demanding cash.
Police say the offender pointed a replica pistol at the victim and pulled the trigger a few times, before producing a large kitchen knife.
The victim had armed himself with the stanley knife, causing the robber to flee without any money.
The offender is described as Caucasian, in his early 20s, around 180cm tall, of skinny build and was wearing a black jumper and long black pants.
