The NRL says no action will be taken following revelations Newcastle Knights owner Nathan Tinkler placed a bet on the club’s round 23 clash against the Warriors in 2011.
Details of the $25,000 wager emerged during court proceedings against the former billionaire, over unpaid gambling debts.
The NRL says inquiries today revealed Mr Tinkler had reported the bet to its former CEO, David Gallop, after being made aware it was against the code’s gambling rules, which forbid such actions by club officials.
The league’s Chief Operating Officer says he’s satisfied with how the matter was dealt with at the time.
