A man who murdered a woman, before setting fire to her rented house in Grafton three years ago, has been sentenced to spend at least 20 years behind bars.
50-year-old Andrew Sumpton repeatedly stabbed Michelle Roberts, after they’d been drinking heavily in May 2012.
Today a Sydney Supreme Court judge handed Sumpton a maximum of 29 years in jail, describing the crime as the “spontaneous but brutal killing of a vulnerable woman”.
