An 83-year-old woman has died in a single vehicle crash in the Hunter Valley, early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Wine Country Drive at North Rothbury, at about 1.45, to find the car smashed into a power pole.
The woman was found dead inside.
A 62-year-old male driver suffered serious injuries, he remains at John Hunter Hospital.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area, with the road to remain closed in both directions for some time.
