GOOD SAMARITAN ASSAULTED WHILE TRYING TO PUT OUT GRASS FIRE

Police are investigating after a good samaritan was assaulted while trying to put out a fire in Armidale.
The 51-year-old man tried to extinguish a small grass fire on Long Swamp Road on Wednesday night when two men approached him, kicking and punching him in the head.
He fell to the ground, and as he tried to run off he was hit in the head with a rock.
The man managed to flee to a nearby house where he called emergency crews.
The man was taken to Armidale Hospital and treated for a fractured eye socket and cuts to his face.
Police are now looking for two males, who have been described as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, about 15-17 years of age and were last seen wearing dark clothing and hooded jackets.
