HUNTER TAFE STUDENTS GIVEN UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY

Up to 1,000 students will be able to access free qualifications at Hunter TAFE, coinciding with the Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games to be hosted in Newcastle in December.
Enrolments are now open to students wishing to participate in a Certificate II in Tourism that will include an on-the-job assessment undertaken during the games.
The funding model would allow students to participate in a pioneering program using practical experience at one of the biggest events the Hunter has seen.
Hunter TAFE Institute Director, Phil Cox, said it’s a unique opportunity for students.
‘It is part of an initiative to create long term job opportunities for our region. This is a unique training model
that we believe will set new standards for training well beyond the tourism and hospitality sector.
‘It is also an example of the way that Hunter TAFE is working with our customers to identify and strengthen
skills resources now and for our future.

Tafe Hunter – well done a truly incredible opportunity to invest in a great community. With this level of support thousands will benefit at the Special Olympics and many more well into the future of the Hunter and Newcastle for decades to come. Well done and thank you
