EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS AT LOCAL HOSPITALS UNDER SCRUTINY

The first National Health Performance Report has found seven of Australia’s worst performing hospital emergency departments are in New South Wales.
Grafton, Lismore and Coffs Harbour hospitals were among the medical centres that need to lift their game.
The hospitals were judged on whether they met the target of cutting emergency department stays to a minimum of four hours.
A Health Department spokesman says more beds and resources have been allocated in Northern New South Wales since the study was completed.
