The upgrade of the Pacific Highway north and south of Coffs Harbour has moved a step closer with the short-listing of construction companies.
Abigroup, Leighton and Theiss are all in line to construct the highway from Frederickton to Eungai.
Work on the 26-kilometre section of dual-carriageways is due to begin next year with completion by 2015.
Planning contracts for another section of highway upgrade between Woolgoolga and Glenugie are expected to be announced by the end of the year.
