Around 200 United Services Union members from Newcastle City Council have attended a stop work meeting in Civic Park.
They carried a motion of no confidence in the actions of council’s Acting General Manager, following the loss of 90 jobs.
Among complaints, the shortening of the lifeguard season, the removal of lifeguards over weekends, and the termination of long term employees without severance pay.
They will meet again on the 19th of September.
