BURLEIGH BEARS’ WOMENS’ TEAM HOPE TO OVERCOME SOUTH LOGAN MAGPIES

The Burleigh Bears have good reason to feel nervous heading into tomorrow’s Brisbane and District Women’s Rugby League grand final at Pizzey Park.
Their opponents, the South Logan Magpies, have won the competition five years in a row, and have six Australian players in the team.
But the Gold Coast girls say they have a few weapons of their own.
“We’ve also got – you know a lot of the girls are Kiwis and one of the girls is actually a former New Zealand Fern – played at that highest level at a world cup before so yeah we’ve got some really strong forwards that are running around – some really good youth in out backs as well so I’m really looking forward to it.”
“We’ve sold 110 supporter shirts. We’ll be out in full force tomorrow and I think they’ll get behind us and get us across the line.”
Kick off is 3:30.
